Architecture is the design of the building built, in the process of building architecture one plans, designs, and then constructs the building. A harmonious blend of elegant material, technology, light and air space, etc compromises to an architectural wonder.

Architecture is not only the building of building but it also comprises the interior arrangement like furniture and the niches provided within the architecture. Architecture is not just found nowadays or even during the time, the first building was formed, it was founded even during the times of the cave dwellers, the way they all built and arranged their caves, tree houses and other shelter.

As man evolved, these architectures also evolved, there are many architectures found all around the world, these architecture during the medieval till the 18th and 19th centuries, have gone through a lot of transformations and there have been a lot of differences in architecture.

The different types of architecture include the Victorian architecture, gothic, renaissance, liberal, etc. Nowadays, the planning, designs are all done through computers and the related software provided. Though the architectural creativity and knowledge has evolved to the wonders of the sky tearing sky scrapers, one will agree to the fact that the architectural brilliance of the olden ages were indeed very brilliant and the way they have built it with so less technological improvement.

However, just like any other commodity, architecture too wears off day by day, in order to build the olden architectural marvels without changing their exotic originality a bit, conservation architect is being followed. Just as the name suggests, conservation architect is the conservation of the architecture.

Conservative designs work upon conserving the buildings built without changing their originality and reality. The thing is everybody likes originality don’t they, in order to preserve this originality, conservative architects try their best. Old is gold is a very well known proverb which is very much true! In order to preserve the golden architecture, the process of conservation architect is followed.

Who wouldn’t love the fully built Roman coliseums and the ruins of the Greek temple being renovated? In order to make these places look beautiful like their previous self, conservative architects do their best. That too with the help of all these improved technologies, conservation architect will not be a big challenge.

Edinburgh is a place in the United Kingdom, capital of Scotland, it is known of course for many things, but it is more predominantly known for its architectures. There are many buildings in Edinburgh, which everybody marvels at, for a long time Edinburgh Architecture has been admired a lot all over the world for its brilliance and the minute detailing of the buildings.

In many places and countries, the landmarks might be anything, but in Edinburgh, it is the architecture, which acts as the landmark. A very important feature in the Edinburgh Architecture is the St Giles Cathedral, which was built during the times of the Protestant reformation.

The parliament house is a very important feature in the Edinburgh Architecture too; this building is situated near the St Giles Cathedral. There is much other architecture like the Tolbooth church, etc.

A crane, which is equipped with a derrick or tower, is used to lower and lift materials with the use of pulleys and cable. Heavy equipment manufacturers and the construction industry use cranes in various activities connected with their process. Cranes used in the construction industry are mostly temporary structures either mounted on a vehicle which is built for the specific purpose of carrying the crane, or fixed to the ground.

Cranes may be controlled by various methods such as radio control, infrared control or a built in control station using a push button pendant or by an operator sitting in the cab of the vehicle.

A standardized hand signal is used between the person operating the controls and the workers in the ground. Bigger installations use radio communication for this purpose. Loads can be positioned with great precision using such signals by experienced crew of the crane. Crane vessels or ships often carry the largest revolving cranes.

It is a surprise to note from the carved stone relief in Haterii’s tomb of 1st century Rome, which depicts a monument being built with a sort of crane, that cranes were used in medieval shipyards and ports in Poland.

The various types of cranes in common use are railroad cranes, mobile cranes, telescopic cranes, tower cranes, truck-mounted cranes, rough terrain cranes, crawler cranes, loader cranes, floating cranes, gantry cranes and aerial cranes.

A crane mounted on a railroad car or on a flatcar is known as railroad crane. Mobile cranes are the most basic and common type of crane, which as the name implies, can be carried easily to any place.

Tower cranes are fixed to the ground. These are mostly used in buildings for the best combination of lifting capacity and height. A telescopic crane is capable of lifting lower capacity but can reach greater heights.

To provide greater mobility, a crane will be mounted on a carrier truck and is known as a truck-mounted crane. Whereas the rough terrain cranes, which are mounted on four rubber tires, are capable of pick and carry operations in rough terrain. Crawler cranes are mounted on a set of tracks with an undercarriage and have better stability and mobility.

A suspended crane or overhead crane is used mostly inside factories and they are capable of carrying very heavy loads. In automated and computer controlled warehouses, a stacker crane with a forklift is used.

During bridge or port construction, floating cranes are used. To load or offload awkward or heavy machinery floating cranes are ideal. They are also used in offshore work. Aerial cranes, which are extended from helicopters, are used to lift large loads.

The design of cranes is based on two major considerations. First is to lift specified mass, the second is its stability, and it should not topple over while performing lifting operations.

History and definition a former guildhall in Dunfermline, Scotland built around 1807 and 1811 Georgian succeeded the English Baroque of Sir Christopher Wren, Sir John Vanbrugh and Nicholas Hawksmoor. Major architects to promote the change in direction from baroque were Colen Campbell, author of the influential book Vitruvius Britannicus;

Richard Boyle, 3rd Earl of Burlington and his proteg William Kent; Thomas Archer; and the Venetian Giacomo Leoni, who spent most of his career in England. The styles that resulted fall within several categories. In the mainstream of Georgian style were both Palladian architecture and its whimsical alternatives, Gothic and Chinoiserie, which were the English-speaking world’s equivalent of European Rococo.

From the mid-1760s a range of Neoclassical modes were fashionable, associated with the British architects Robert Adam, James Gibbs, Sir William Chambers, James Wyatt, Henry Holland and Sir John Soane. Greek Revival was added to the design repertory, after Georgian architecture is characterized by its proportion and balance;

Simple mathematical ratios were used to determine the height of a window in relation to its width or the shape of a room as a double cube. “Regular” was a term of approval, implying symmetry and adherence to classical rules: the lack of symmetry, where Georgian additions were added to earlier structures, was deeply felt as a flaw.

Regularity of housefronts along a street was a desirable feature of Georgian town planning. Georgian designs usually lay within the Classical orders of architecture and employed a decorative vocabulary derived from ancient Rome or Greece. The most common building materials used are brick or stone. Commonly used colors were red, tan, or white.

However, modern day Georgian style homes use a variety of colors. General characteristics Identifying Features (1700 – c.1780): A simple 1-2 story box, 2 rooms deep, using strict symmetry arrangements Panel front door centered, topped with rectangular windows (in door or as a transom) and capped with an elaborate crown/entablature supported by decorative pilasters Cornice embellished with decorative moldings.

Usually dentilwork Multi-pane windows are never paired, and fenestrations are arranged symmetrically (whether vertical or horizontal), usually 5 across Other features of Georgian style houses can include – roof to ground-level: Roof: 40% are Side-gabled; 25% Gambrel; 25% Hipped Chimneys on both sides of the home A portico in the middle of the roof with a window in the middle is more common with post-Georgian styles, e.g.

“Adam” Small 6-paned sash windows and/or dormer windows in the upper floors, primarily used for servant’s quarters. This was also a way of reducing window tax.

Larger windows with 9 or 12 panes on the main floors Colonial Georgian architecture Hammond-Harwood House Main Facade Cornelius Low House built in 1741 in Piscataway, New Jersey Georgian Architecture was widely disseminated in the English colonies of the time. In the American colonies, colonial Georgian blended with the neo-Palladian style to become known more broadly as ‘Federal style architecture’.

Georgian buildings were also constructed of wood with clapboards; even columns were made of timber, framed up and turned on an over-sized lathe. The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, is an excellent example of Georgian architecture in the Americas. Unlike the Baroque style that it replaced, which was generated almost solely in the context of palaces and churches, Georgian had wide currency in the upper and middle classes.

Within the residential context, the best remaining example is the pristine Hammond-Harwood House (1774) in Annapolis, Maryland. This house was designed by colonial architect William Buckland and modeled on the Villa Pisani at Montagnana, Italy as depicted in Andrea Palladio’s I Quattro Libri dell’Architettura (Four Books Of Architecture).

The establishment of Georgian architecture, and the Georgian styles of design more generally, were to a large degree aided by the fact that, unlike earlier styles which were primarily disseminated among craftsmen through the direct experience of the apprenticeship system, Georgian was also spread through the new medium of inexpensive suites of engravings.

From the mid-18th century, Georgian styles were assimilated into an architectural vernacular that became part and parcel of the training of every architect, designer, builder, carpenter, mason and plasterer, from Edinburgh to Maryland. Post-Georgian developments After about 1840 Georgian conventions were slowly abandoned as a number of revival styles, including Gothic Revival, enlarged the design repertoire.

In the United States this style declined in popularity after the revolution, due to its association with the colonial regime; but later in the early decades of the twentieth century when there was a growing nostalgia for its sense of order, the style was revived and came to be known as the Colonial Revival.

In Canada the United Empire Loyalists embraced Georgian architecture as a sign of their fealty to Britain, and the Georgian style was dominant in the country for most of the first half of the 19th century. The Grange, for example, a manor built in Toronto, was built in 1817. The revived Georgian style that emerged in Britain at the beginning of the 20th century is usually referred to as Neo-Georgian; the work of Edwin Lutyens includes many examples.

Versions of the Neo-Georgian style were commonly used in Britain for certain types of urban architecture until the late 1950s, Bradshaw Gass & Hope’s Police Head Quarters in Salford of 1958 being a good example. In both the United States and Britain, the Georgian style is still employed by architects like Quinlan Terry for private residences.

In today’s highly competitive architecture world, every now and then a new method is emerging for architect’s assistance. A wide range of architectural engineering services are available nowadays and even more are preparing to hit the market in future shortly. Amongst all these, the most used and productive method is – architectural drawings.

Architectural drawings – what is the importance in architecture world? Why it is the most favorable options for architects? These are the common questions that are obvious for anyone. Well, architectural drawings of buildings are set of diagrams of building’s architecture.

These diagrams are nothing but technical working drawings that follow certain architecture standards. Architectural drawings are created for architect’s help. Now as architectural drawings give exceptional details about building’s architecture, architects use it for a variety of purposes.

Architects use such drawings for graphic communication with relevant architecture professional. They can easily communicate ideas about building architecture’s design to one another quickly. As a consequence of this, a precious amount of time and money of architects is saved.

Architectural drawings contain huge details about building architecture’s technical specifications. It contains detailed views about 3D architectural floor plans, 3D architecture sectional views and more. Meanwhile drawing sheet sizes, measurements/scales and cross referencing are also mentioned in it.For any architecture project, such details are extremely important. Architects utilize them to an extreme level to get the most desired building architecture.

Architectural drawings can be very useful in following areas:* Building drawings as per architectural symbols* Architectural details drawings using architectural drawings software* Architectural plan drawings* Architectural sketches of buildings* architectural drawing CAD* 3d CAD drawings* 3D interior design drawings* Roof details drawings, metal building drawings and steel architectural building designs* 3D architectural rendering drawings, 3D exterior drawings and design

Perhaps due above mentioned applications of architectural drawings, most of the architects use such drawings for their benefits. It definitely is a profitable and productive option for architects.

Crane accidents are one of the issues that construction companies like construction contractors in Indiana, are facing with on a daily basis. The incident rate of crane-related accidents has been rising over the past few years. In the last several years, there has been an increase in the number of serious injuries and deaths that have resulted from crane accidents.

These accidents were due to mechanical failure, negligence on the part of the operator, and inadequate safety inspections. These occur also due to tipping, collapses, overloading, falls, dropped loads from improper rigging, falling equipment, working in poor weather conditions such as high winds, general negligence, electrocution from high voltage wire contact, injuries while setting up or taking down the crane, crane design defects, and lack of proper operator training.

Even though the number of crane accidents has increased, some are still considered to be rare on most jobsites. In 2006, there were 72 fatalities recorded and that figure accelerated the following year to approximately 90 deaths.

Crane safety has been addressed by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) as well as the manufacturers. When these accidents do happen over and over again, very serious injuries and even death may result.

Protection from harm should always be the priority any time this machinery is in operation. Because cranes are designed to be heavy, carry large loads, and lift objects high into the air, when there is an accident (such as tip-over, collapse, dropped load, or other similar accident), the natural force of gravity increases the severity of the injuries. OSHA calls for all employers to participate in precautionary measures to stop crane-related deaths.

Accidents impact the business and the lives of the workers involved. That is the reason why turning to a construction service contractors is not a straightforward chore like what numerous individuals believe. Construction projects involve both highly difficult jobs to achieve and large monetary investments to make.

They may affect the production level of the company or the ability of the company to generate revenue and cause financial hardship for the company because of such incidents. This is more than simply directing workers what to perform.

These issues should be addressed to the government and private business sectors to encourage their operators for this heavy equipment in participating in the safety campaign related to its usage. These safety guidelines should be done by operators to prevent irresponsible accidents that can cause severe injuries or death from happening.

There are many employees that started to invest in better crane accident education programs because there are increased risks for accidents that are being reported. To prevent putting anyone in danger and the equipment too, they must have a proper training on how to control these heavy equipments. One careless or reckless mistake can injure or kill a large number of people.

This heavy equipment is essential for construction projects, particularly in lifting and moving heavy items. Not every building agency enjoys the same number of construction contracts especially for small construction business. This can be applied for large construction companies in taking advantage for such achievement. The general impression regarding these heavy equipments is that owning one is much more inexpensive in comparison to renting it out.
